3rd Gen Run Cap Clouds

Diné (Navajo) rugs use clouds in many ways, and we wanted to make that the center point of the design. Diné is a matrilineal society, meaning women own the land and pass it down to their daughters. When Diné introduce themselves, they will name their maternal clan first. We wanted to show two types of clouds. The female cloud is in the center, and when the rain is nice and relaxing, that is considered a female rain. Then, we put the male cloud surrounding the female cloud. A very hard rain with lighting and thunder is considered a male rain.
